Spokane eastward into northern Idaho indeed looked like a smoggy L.A. summer day, surrounding mountains mostly lost in the brown haze, and blood-red sun descending into a thick muck at dusk. Most folks are still going about their outdoor activities, although anything highly physical might not be too pleasant for those with respiratory issues. Having our sky impacted by distant wildfires this time of year is fairly normal, but this year it got off to an early start (late May or early June?)and has been much more prolonged.
