You must visit the Mad River Valley, the South Trinity Basin and the headwaters of Cottonwood Creek to see the staked out route of the new road. Portable satellite uplinks are visible on a number of hill sides. If you have the sense to realize that container traffic will quadruple in 20 years and the air pollution concerns of the Bay Area and L.A., then you will accept this reality. Some things are not publicized until they analysis the eco-nuts response in Humboldt. Oakland has already pledged to build the container port. This route avoids cities and is to engineered for higher speeds than no wallowed on most roads.
