... and then there's the 'white-knuckles' ride back down that 4% grade at somewhere between 15 to 25 MPH, (or more) with the brake rigging vibrating so bad it feels like it's gonna come through the floor, as the train pummels its decent through dense smoke from the brake-shoes!
At least, that's the way it was when I took the ride in 2003. As a steam locomotive engineer, I can say with some degree of certainty we were on the ragged-edge of a run away. But, I'd love to go back for another ride! :)
