Thanks Bruce, I look forward to the pictures. Anyone wishing to tour the SP&S Mt. Hood #600 should get to Portland during the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation's Holiday Express 08 which is tentatively set for December 5-6-7 and 12-13-14, tell any one of the "blue vested" car hosts that you'd like a look. The #600 is the pride of the Pacific Northwest Chapter, National Railway Historical Society's fleet.
In addition to the 600's history on the SP&S between Spokane and Portland it ran with SP 4449 to open the California State Railroad Museum in 1981 and to the Louisiana World's Fair in 1984 (a 7,477 mile 51-day "excursion"). Ordered 9/1946 and delivered in 2/1950; donated by BN to the PNWC-NRHS in 1972 at a Portland Union Station ceremony. The 600 was painted in 1985 to the correct SP&S livery. The interior is very close to original.
