The kind of work happening at Confusion Hill is what would be necessary to make NWP a going proposition in the next big canyon east where it runs. Same kind of terrain, same kind of landslides. Without the availability of major funding from either the Fed Govt (as for major highway jobs) or a sugar daddy (like the rest of SP was in the olde days) even temporary fixes (clean up the mess and bulldoze something back in after the slide slows down) won't happen let alone a long-term solution like this one.
