The Canadian ( Canadien ??? ) Volvo painted up for CN is a former CN Rail Intermodal division unit. Although they were Owner / Operators, CN required them to be painted up in CN colors. Kinda like FedEx Ground requires its O/O's to have white tractors. ( Big deal -- 60% of Class 8 tractors use white as the base color. )
Regarding the Great Northern - painted tractor, I have not seen this unit on Seattle streets for quite a few years now. Not surprising, as the International " B Cab " Tractor was last manufactured in the early 1990's. I have seen the GN lettered Freightliner around though.
I knew a SoCal foamer who bought 2 Chevy S-10 Blazers. One was painted blue, to which he added a yellow lower stripe. the other one was silver, to which he added red & black lower stripes. Ba - Da - BING, instant Santa Fe freight and passenger paint jobs !!! Another SoCal foamer had a dark green Ford F-150, to which he added orange stripes for a Western Pacific tribute scheme.
