Don't forget today's Just - In - Time supply philisophy, which eliminates the large warehouse facilities in major metropolitan areas in favor of fast re - supply to individual Point - of - Sale retail stores. This practically mandates using trucks over the slower, yet cheaper rail intermodal service.
The days of Espee's CZLAT and BRLAT are long gone, as the paper and corrugated products they carried are now made in China and Korea, rather than Everett and Camas.
