There were once plans for trash by rail to Eagle Mountain, which would be used as a dump for LA-OC-IE trash, back in the late 90's early 2000's. Much of this appears to have come to nothing, as we are now reaching capacity on most of our urban dumps. Some of the recycling effort have reduced demand, giving us a "reprieve" of about 10 years in finding a place to put it. But, most of these land fills will still reach capacity by 2020. And, most politicians appear to be avoiding the issue, because no one really "wants" a dump, and the Nimby's will go every kind into every mode of bat$#it crazy over it, no matter where you put it.
