There is a track issue, namely a decaying trestle near Oceanside that might not hold the weight of 3751. But we are currently in the second of four weekend closures of the line to replace that bridge, so by June things will be fine. 3751 has made many trips to San Diego for the Santa Fe, it was used on Del Mar race track specials. Some have said the the bridge is being replaced so that 3751 can run to San Diego, but with a 10 mph speed restriction on a major passenger line I think the real reason is otherwise.
