Jokes aside, it can actually be a pretty effective way of removing the dioxins and other toxins in the soil there. Normally certain types of grasses would be used, but there's no reason why this wouldn't work as well (or better, given the climate there). The only disadvantage is that it can take several months, but it's cheaper than having to remove tons of soil and ship it out by truck or barge (heavily contaminated soil may still need to be removed, but the rest can be left in place and treated using this method). Tailings ponds at several former mines in Colorado and elsewhere have been successfully cleaned up using this approach, so it could work just as well at the mill site.
