Regarding Lennar's interest in Mare Island, the city of Vallejo long ago saw dollar signs and a means of dealing with the former Navy base. Did it work for the city and the former government property? I suppose an answer to that question is subjective. But there is no question that it worked for Lennar!
Sure there are rail customers in Vallejo. All the active ones seem to call Mare Island home though.
What is the railroad's position on this matter?
