All of the loaded cars were unloaded and the loads trucked out years ago. At one time there were more than 100 cars trapped somewhere on the railroad. From Willits south, NWPY moved everything off the railroad that was safe to move in 2001. Some cars have been sold for scrap and cut up where they sat, but many cars are at locations too inaccessible to permit economical scrapping. Other cars are still accruing car hire charges since the NCRA can't or won't give notice of destruction to UP as required by AAR Car Hire Rules.
