METRO Gold line Little Tokyo station & connector

In Los Angeles the Little Tokyo station is being rebuilt as part of a project to connect the GOLD line to the BLUE line.
So when the whole project is done you can board at Union Station and go to Long Beach (No transfer needed).
My question is for those of you with a crystal ball;
Will service to East LA resume, maybe temporary, from LAUPT when the Little Tokyo station is done till the connector is finished.
When all is said and done what color train/line do you look for to go Pasadena or Long Beach?
Corrections welcome. Timeline would be helpful too. Thanks :)
