Back in the old days when electric trains crossed the Bay Bridge, there was a great big terminal. 1st & Mission Streets. San Francisco.
Three separate tracks full of streetcars greeted the Key System, the Sacramento Northern and SP's IER trains.
If you were hungry, there was a restaurant. If you wanted one for the road, there was a cocktail lounge. If you mis-behaved, there was a Jail. If you Spit on the floor, the fine was $ 5.00 !! Yes, I loved this place when my grandma took me to "The City" to see places like the Zoo, Playland, Sutros, and so many other wonderful things no longer in existence.
On the last day the Terminal was open to the Public, the fake walls were taken down so commuters could see what used to be there. The only thing missing was the SIX tracks upstairs. Take a look and see what you might have missed !!
