It should be noted that the film featured leased McCloud River #25 operating mostly on the Tidewater Southern and the Sierra Railroad steam locomotives on that road. The movie also included shots on WP's line over Altamont Pass as noted in the location list, I think I remember hearing diesels pulled those trains, with a smoke generator on a flatcar used to suggest the presence of steam power.
