Dynamic braking question

I think I read somewhere where non-dynamic brake equipped units in MU cannot transmit the dynamic braking signals to units that are trailing them. Is that the case? I know they cannot control dynamics themselves if leading, but if a non dynamic unit is #2 in a consist of 4, would only the lead unit provide dynamics?
