Regarding the question of Union Pacific using the CORP Siskiyou Line for detours during the recent closure of the Cascade line; there are several probable answers:
1) No crews
2) No clearances
3) No time savings
Anyone who has fanned the Siskiyou Line, as I did most recently this weekend, can tell you that the line is nothing but curves & hills, with lotsa both from Cottage Grove all the way to Black Butte. The slow running times resulting from this, plus restricted clearances, add up to ZERO DETOURS.
