Margaret, please don't over quote me, now ...... that's not what I really said.....is it?
We actually live in an age where we can make a lot of things work. Even if these are not very efficient or worth the cost......
Don't get all Nimby and pseudo science on me..... Stuff happens. And, we engineer for it, as best we know how, based on the likelihood of the risks we know about. Earthquakes in the tube and such are amount the least of my economic and analytical concerns, and jeez loooowheeez(!!!), claustrophobia(????), please give me a break, that is not a really a concern, is it? Those can be dealt with, far better than some of the basic assumptions, and are a problem that is dealt with routinely, on every other "fixed guideway" system around the world.
There reality checks exist on what is acceptable to consumers. Which is why I noted that this would likely require relatively large vehicles.....claustrophobia not a problem, they will have internet.....you can watch movies, and it's only going to be a "half hour" trip, right?
I have more mundane questions about operational capacity, and how that relates to the projected "theoretical" demand curves at these purported travels times, from where, at what cost? These are more fundamental to accurate cost benefit analysis for "any" of these kinds of "fixed guideway" systems, regardless of technology used or maximum achievable speed.......? None of which are answered in the nonsense presented in this dog and pony show.
