The Aberdeen - Hoquiam, WA area had 3 branch lines serving it at one time. ( NP, UP, MILW ). And even though the area is an ocean port, the big attraction for the railroads, as in Cd'A, was the lumber mills.
Also, as highlighted in a recent issue of Trains magazine, the Scranton, PA area,( my dad's hometown ), was served by 5 Class 1 railroads. Only 2 of these, the Lackawanna & the D & H, were considered mainlines; the Erie, CNJ, & NYO&W, were all branches. Coal was the big attraction here.
Well, it looks like I missed the last " Revenue " runs. Bruce, any idea if the scrap runs will continue through 4 th of July weekend ???
