Hi Everybody-- As all of you know, there are two famous Theme Parks in Orange County.
Richard Bagley was active in the Live Steam fraternity and he was also the publisher and editor of "The Miniature Locomotive" magazine in the 1950's and a personal friend of Walt Disney. Dick was hired by him to work on the Park trains and the riverboat "Mark Twain", because of his steam knowledge. Dick was also involved with the design and operation of the Log Ride at Knotts Berry Farm. At one time in the early days of the Disneyland construction, Dick was a member of a committee that was considering the possibility of building a three-foot gauge railroad that would be approximately ten miles in length, connecting the two Orange County theme parks, Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland. However, as there were many other priorities at the time, this idea was dropped and never made it off the sketch pad. Besides Dick, there was Walt Disney, Walter Knott, Bob Hauff, Ward Kimball and a host of other known Imagineers. I always wondfered if Orange County would have gone for the idea !
