UPDATE: Train vs. mini-van collision just south of Red Bluff leaves one dead

Red Bluff >> A fatal collision occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of State Highway 99W and Altube Avenue, south of Red Bluff, involving an Amtrak Train and a woman in a mini-van.

The woman, Tonja Anders, 40, of Red Bluff, who was alone in her vehicle, was reported to have died as a result of the collision but no further information has been released as to what happened.

The Amtrak train company and the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office are performing investigations into the cause of the collision, according to Yvette Borden, lieutenant of the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.

Amtrak trains also have video cameras on the front of the train that will assist in the investigation.

An update will be posted to the redbluffdailynews.com as it becomes available.
