Oh yes, SP imposed a 55 MPH max on all trains. Shut units down when conditions permitted, shut down excess units on line. Tariff fuel surcharges didn't help much to offset the raising prices in diesel. Lots of customers went to TOFC in 1974 when fuel became short for truckers
