In the summer of 1979, a lot of cattle were shipped out of Stockton on the WP, bound for Wyoming via the UP, because they couldn't get fuel for trucks. For several weeks, the WPX would have 10-12 carloads most nights, right behind the power. An interesting experience, but not very pleasant to be around.
