Way too many inconsistencies in their story to be true. Did they run a motor car over some of the Milwaukee line, probably. Did they motorcar the complete line, no. I suspect this story judging from the photos was created over several years. Seeing late fall in Harlowton and mid-summer at Hyak leads me to these conclusions. Seeing the photo of A.L. Rogerson in Harlowton was odd also. he retired from the Milwaukee in 1979. (Mother's uncle.) Was it a great photo album of the Milwaukee at it’s end, yes. It just wasn’t what they claimed.
