The 14 was also closed for half of this period, at least, so no onw went to work, anyhow. This also prevented a reliable bus bridge, as well, for several days.
Any unplanned over four hour plus rerouting via the Palmdale cutoff and Cajon and back to LA via what UP, or over the BNSF and via the SGV line to LA UPT would be worthless. Half of these commuters from Acton, Palmdale, Lancaster commuters get off at a Santa Clarita, Burbank, or Glendale stop, so would after a minimum travel time of four or five hours later to LAUPT via Cajon, half of these folks still would not be at their jobs.....?
It's just not worth it to run via Cajon from Palmdale. Although it would be foamer heaven, to shoot photos of Metrolink passing Sullivan's curve. So I do understand.......
This is yet another unexpected "add on" price you sometimes have to pay for the "cheap" housing, in the lovely, 110 degree summers of the Antelope Valley......
