Fire in NE Oregon

A fire started early this afternoon near the I-84 wb weigh station on Deadman Pass east of Pendleton. As of 8pm it had burned 700+ acres and was 0% contained.

UP seems to still be running trains but Meacham is under level 2 evacuation order (ready to leave on a moments notice).

I'm not sure which way the fire is burning but if it gets to Meacham that will definitely affect UP. Freeway has been closed since not long after fire started, and the lengthy detour routes are congested. Also heard La Grande and surrounding area lost power and OTEC is scrambling to reroute feed into the grid.

The morning could be bad. Plenty warm and no rain in sight for next 2 weeks. Last year we had several bad fires in region including two that were over 100,000 acres.
