Another consideration: the equipment owner may not be the same as the track owner - different agencies or different branches of the agency. "Metrolink" is really just the advertising name for the system; the agency at one time (still is?) was SCRRA.

Another example of "X" reporting marks for government-owned trains: CDTX for Caltrans-owned stuff.

Amtrak *is* a railroad - see Northeast Corridor and major parts of the Chicago-Detroit line for examples, as well as a few terminal facilities in various places.
