Mexico has had to deal with immigration problems for the south affecting the former Pan American Railroad since the 90's. When Genesee and Wyoming took over this operation, the government failed to speak with Jacksonville of insurance term and that big hurricane that destroyed many bridges can be compared with the damage done to the NWP on Eel River Canyon. Mexico SCT had to pay big Pesos to fix the railroad into Guatemala, where they stole the narrow gauge connection. Recently taxpayers have been dumping more money into what the Government believes that in the future could become a railroad that will connect the PCRC into Panama. The railroad does have a decent amount of customers, it's just that security measure have had a hard hit on the operations. What has dropped dramatically is more "passengers" riding "La Bestia" hobo style. Mexico having a President that's had a President worse than Obama, Trump and Hilary combined has had their people angry. So, let's see what happens with the Government running the railroad, which has been okay for the last decade.
