Is what you heard from your buddy even true? There is no news about Oakland or POO defaulting on any loans. Although lots of projects and companies default on all sorts of things like loans, all the time, there seems to be nothing reported to substantiate this vague rumor, at this time....
One of the terminals did declare bankruptcy and pull out months ago. I understand that it had been at least partially replaced right away, by another operator in the Outer Terminal. And, it is my understanding that TEU's are actually up at POO, this year....
RR's appear to be doing okay, relative to TEU volumes on UP and BNSF, form west coast ports, and Christmas is here, so it's going to be buy until November. Although, nationally total RR TEU's are slightly down about four per cent, mostly because of really cheap diesel fuel, and a lot more competition from trucks.
If it was the bankruptcy and pull out of that terminal operator, that your buddy maybe heard about, then it was covered by the local papers and TV stations.....months ago, when it happened.
