But the Maginot Line enjoyed enough political support to get built. It might even have had some more utility if the Germans did not have 10 times as many tanks as the French in 1939. And military leaders like Petain and Darlan in sympathy with the Axis. And even in WWII troops did get bogged down - the siege of Stalingrad.

I suggest this thing to and for Palmdale will get built not in spite of the stupidity and corruption but because of it. The fruits of a single party government.
