When you have nothing better to do…………...
1. When streetcars were (or still are in New Orleans, San Francisco, etc.) parked outdoors in the elements, how could the car doors be closed from the outside after the operator exited?
2. As I understand, the doors were operated by air pressure. And as the streetcars stood idle the air would slowly leak out of the air lines if the trolley was pulled to disable the car, which would disable the air pump as well. How, then, could the doors remain securely closed to guard against unauthorized entry?
