One report says:
"Wasn't aware the car had been sold, whoever bought it will have a lot of work if they want to restore to running condition, during Hurricane IKE, the salt water got into everything below the bottom of the windows, the car had just undergone an extensive cosmetic restoration and interior upholstery replacement..

Neither diesel motors to the trucks was in working condition, due to cracked engine blocks, caused by failure to drain coolant before a rare hard freeze many years ago.. When they obtained the car, it was in running condition, Galveston's salt air contributed to many problems, especially to the gerry rigged repairs the SP made after a collision with a truck, the SP used Cor-Ten steel to replace damaged car end, this combined with galvanic corrosion and exposure to the elements, especially the Galveston salt air, did not help much..."
