The railroads pretty much hate everything about the woodchip business - terrible and non-standard rates, terrible cycle times, expensive custom equipment, hassles with the nets, etc. They really only tolerated it because it was felt they had to haul the chips if they wanted the paper/finished product business.

I'm just surprised it took the Burlington this long to divest them.

Expect the reefers to be next.
