Back in the days of the late, great Desert Wind, it was common to run an extra Supercan between Los Angeles - Las Vegas on weekends for the extra capacity. My dad & a bunch of his Polka buddies chartered a car several times; of course this was when Amtrak had extra equipment for such service. My dad says traffic on Interstate 15 is quite bad nowadays.
I do understand that the charter buses do a great business between SoCal & Lost Wages; even more so to Stateline, where you can start losing an hour sooner. Wonder if the rise of Tribal Casinos in SoCal has impacted this part of the trade. The casinos in Reno blame the NorCal Indian Casinos for many of their woes.
