unit trains

Right now, there is one perhaps two unit coal train sitting in the Auburn WA yard waiting to head east. Earlier this evening another (third?) unit coal train went east about 6 PM. I assume the coal had been sold in mid-shipment as happens some times.
My question: If a unit train (any unit train) is re-directed to another terminal, and it has to pass from say BNSF to NS, how is the train handled to get it back into it’s original loop? I can see all sorts of shipper/customer scheduling issues, how are they resolved? The second railroad would have no incentive to get it back to it’s original supplier/customer, or would it?
These unit coal trains are the only loaded trains over Stampede at this time, everything else are empty grainers.
