85 Percent of SMART is Single Track and So ...

SMART's Operations Chief stated that 85 % of SMART's track is single track and
therefore if a breakdown did occur, they had an 85 % chance it would occur
in the single track portion of the IOS.

He and Lisa Cobb then went on to explain the horror story of what happens to
the passengers if this occurs. (Think "evacuation.")

So, all of the train engines need to be retrofit before SMART can start up.

The UPX (Toronto) which uses the same engine is running smoothly because
they have more than one track on most of the line serving the airport.

So, is SMART delaying start-up because of the design flaw in the engine or
because SMART is a single track system?

Does anyone know how often do train engines malfunction?
