The PRR is considering a route from Fielding Landings at Humboldt Bay to Carlotta and then onto the main Mad River route. Large container ships are easier to handle at this location. Also, are cries about traffic through town. A second line to Samoa using existing track and the old lumber railroad and will loop back to the roadbed of the Mad River and Acrata R.R. and then follow the Mad River southeast. The point is to avoid Arcata and downtown Eureka, which have become accustom to no rail traffic. Furthermore, these are slave trains all the way to Wendel. Enviromentalists will be happy to know, PRR will allow railbuses on its line along with North Coast R.R. in town
