In order of grievance:
1) NCRA broke the law. As a public agency they must be held accountable.
2) By picking up the cost of repair, taxpayers subsidize gravel mining in a Wild
& Scenic river canyon. When said taxpayers find out this is the plan,
the NWP Co and its lap dog (NCRA) lie to the public about the plan trying
to claim anything north of Willits is "speculative." when it is not only
part of the plan, but the core of the plan submitted to the state funding
agency in order to get state funding.
3) Public denials about freight operations nighttime impacts on suburban residents.
4) NCRA and rail supporters pushing false claims on the public
like "freight removes trucks from the freeways." (Truth, some times
it does. Not in this case.)
5) Rail supporters crossing all ethical lines by personally attacking
two honest, hard working, NCRA Board members (Meyers and MacDonald). It's rail McCarthyism
and rail supporters don't even recognize it for what it is .
Reality: the line is uneconomic. There are few public benefits to be had
by subsidizing freight in the region and whatever benefits there are are
far outweighed by the costs. Highest and best use is to convert the row
in the canyon into a first class biking/hiking trail.
