Peter-- to answer your question in more detail, the Sacramento Northern tied up in Sacramento at their UNION STATION on Terminal Way between 11th and 12th Streets. It was built in 1926 for INTERURBANS only !!
Now, photo # 3 shows the opposite side of the buildings in Oakland where you saw all the overhead wire. This is where the SN connected to the "C"- transbay line of the Key System on 40th Street. In the building, to the right of the gondola, was the ticket office on the 1st Floor and the Interlocking Tower on the 2nd Floor.
