Reverse moves - crown brass set up

After one of the Garlic Trips with the 2472 where the locomotive had extensive reverse moves, Don Michelleti and I discussed the crown brass set up. Most mainline SP locomotives was chamfered (beveled)on the leading edge of the brasses whereas the opposite edge was straight. Going in a forward motion as the axle rotated, the chamfer enabled grease to follow. Grease is needed between the axle and crown brass. Going backward, the straight edge would literally wipe of grease during the rotation. Locomotives that were planned for extensive reverse moves, such as switch engines, had chamfered edges on both sides on the brasses. At the time, Don believed the single chamfer edge of the crown brasses and her trailing truck design created concerns with extensive reverse moves of the 2472.
I assume that the crown brasses of both 2476 and 2477 were set up for reverse moves.
