I came to the exact same conclusion several months ago. It seems to me that Pinterest is trying to monopolize images on the net, and all for the usual social media motivation of leveraging user meta data, etc. Lets just hope nothing happens to Flickr. BTW, you can always do a screen print of the Google image preview, or even just do a save as of the preview.
