Re: BRT Question

AC has trouble with merchants and residents, say in Berkeley, the same way Muni has trouble with ditto on Geary.

Bob2 has summed up very well the shortcomings of the BRT concept. Yesterday I was thinking how GGT is going to deal with BRT on Van Ness - for sure the left turn onto Broadway towards the Tunnel. In this instance the short distance on Van Ness to Broadway would probably not run into too many Muni buses stopping along the dedicated middle lanes.

The smart interim approach on Geary would be to convert to 3 section articulated trolley buses, traffic light pre-emption, and greatly expand on line storage at Geary Carhouse-Presdio Yard. Just keep curb loading, which is safer on dangerous Geary Blvd.

Of course that won't happen because the SPUR types want 10 broad gauge cattlecar trains on Geary. The Richmond won't be at all the same. Manhattanization. Perhaps Berkeley is dreaming the same thing - more subway, altho Berkeley is conflicted about the prospect of skyrise growth.
