I was looking at the Purchase & Sales Agreement between UP and the SCCRTC. I see UP retained the freight easement for the Santa Cruz Branch Rail Line forever and they also retained ownership of the end of the line between MP 31.39 – 31.90. I wonder how this would come into play if the SC&MB wanted out of their contract and there was an attempt to abandon the line and remove the tracks.
