Sad to see it go, but I guess the last 8 years of the circus in Washington DC took it's toll. Once they caved to the PETA nuts, and pulled the Elephants it was only a matter of time. Too bad Ringling bros couldn't of hung on a few more years. Sad to think all those eastern european immigrants will possibly lose their jobs.
I grew up on the Mulford line in Union City in the 80's, just North of the Alameda Creek Trestle. Saw the Circus train many times and 4449 a couple of times. Moved to Palo Alto in Tri cities area in the early 90's. Railroading on the Peninsula just was not the same.
Years later I worked next to the WP yard in Milpitas. The train would park next our work. Got to watch the Circus girls running being chased around the Sun Micro systems building being yelled at in russian by their trainer every morning. I was amazed at how many people lived and worked on that train. It really was a small city on wheels
