Does this group have a physical connection to NCRA rails? What are the Samoa shops?

Timber Heritage Association update

The Association is making progress on its long-term effort to take possession of the Samoa Shops complex in Eureka, California. They’ve leased it for several years from the local harbor authority and paid for the lease by restoring the site’s multiple buildings. During 2016 the large Machine Shop building received a new metal roof. Extensive installation of roof gutters has begun to control runoff problems.

Purchase of the Shops site has been approved, pending environmental remediation paid for by the Association. That’s a long, complex process. The soil sampling stage is underway. Once the samples are analyzed and contamination has been quantified, the cleanup will begin.
