The 'Oakland Acorn' Lives !!!

In the 1950's, the Park Department of the City of Oakland, CA built a 16-inch steam railway at Peralta Playground near the old Oakland Auditorium. Children loved it ! The locomotive was numbered "1950" and was painted like the Southern Pacific Daylight train. I lived in North Berkeley at one time, and my uncle took me to ride it on a couple of different occasions. The City of Oakland christened the train "The Oakland Acorn" ...
Progress intervened and the railway was all ripped out.

Today, the old Acorn runs again, only in Marshall, Wisconsin. It was rebuilt and modified but is essentially the old SP Daylight locomotive # 1950. Check out this LINK to a famous engine.
