Hi Fred-- With all due respect to your comments about GGRM and WRM: "That was THEN--This is NOW " !!
I suggested a long time ago that GGRM should have a couple of "serious" meetings with WRM at Rio Vista Junction, for the purpose of 'permanently' locating there. The potential set-up is absolutely perfect :

1. A potential total mileage of exactly 7.8 miles to operate Trolleys, Streetcars, Freight Motors, Interurbans, Key System Articulated Units, et al from "RIO VISTA JUNCTION" to the thrilling metropolis of "MONTEZUMA" !!

2. A potential total mileage of exactly 6.77 miles to operate any and all equipment belonging to the Golden Gate Railroad Museum (GGRM) between "RIO VISTA JUNCTION" and "DOZIER", with a further potential of another 6.81 miles of trackage between "DOZIER" and minimum of 1000-feet EAST of the UPRR interchange at "CANNON".
GGRM would then have a total operating distance of 13.58 miles. NOT too shabby for what they have NOW or the NWP "parking lot" in SONOMA...

3. Jepson Prairie : --- Site of a series of seasonal vernal pools which sustain rare and endangered species.
Owned by the Solano Land Trust, Jepson Prairie is designated as a National Natural Landmark. The Western
Railway Museum ran spring excursion trains to the area until the mid-1990’s. The property is not a
constructed or vernacular landscape and thus not eligible under National Register criteria as a contributor to the Sacramento Northern Historic District.

The Vernal Pools at Jepson Prairie would be an ideal spot to haul riders, by the GGRM, if they wish to see something both historic and beautiful !

4. When the WRM property was first proposed for use by GGRM, there were the "Naysayers" who screamed about the lack of "scenery" in the Sacramento River Delta Country ...
WHO CARES !! GGRM can plant a few trees like WRM did to their property years ago !

5. NWP-SONOMA is only temporary ! TRACY is a pipe dream and a long drive. Santa Cruz is full of politics and dope !! BAERA--WRM is only 60-minutes (1-hour) to drive from OAKLAND to RIO VISTA JUNCTION, via I-80 and SR 12. The WRM site is located on a major State highway for guests and tourists to descend and take a historic ride !

6. "ABSOLUTELY NO INTERFERENCE" would upset the "Trolley Gang" and their crowd. NONE of the 13.58 miles of track NORTH of RIO VISTA JUNCTION is utilized by the "Trolley Gang".
WRM will probably NEVER use it anyway, because for years they have stated that they want to build SOUTH toward the beautiful Mount Diablo landmark !

7. Turning Facilities: Yes, I'm sure that "TURNING FACILITIES" would be required at end-of-track to turn around the Southern Pacific's P-10 'Pacific' # 2472. Great !!
Hire a rail contractor to build them for you and get the job done quicker ! That's what PLA-NCRY has done in the past at NILES and VERONA. Financing CAN be worked out !

8. In conclusion, there are endless possibilities for making a Joint Partnership work, between the "Bay Area Electric Railroad Association" and the "Golden Gate Railroad Museum" and be completely separated from EACH other, avoiding any and all In-Fighting !!
Also, it would be up to GGRM to maintain ALL trackage from RIO VISTA JUNCTION to CANNON if a long-term Lease is approved by the appropriate bodies !!

Think about it folks-- No Flaming allowed !! GGRM has to be OUT of Niles Canyon very SOON. Where to go ??
Believe it or not, I would even volunteer to come down from WA State and act as a Liaison
at the Joint Meetings ! Only time will tell-- anybody have a better idea ??
Cheers.
