I subscribe to an Austrian model railroad magazine that also has a section on prototype news.

I distinctly recall a photo caption that said that a particular locomotive could not operate as a lead unit in Switzerland because it had not been converted to or equipped with rear view cameras.

From that caption, I got the impression that having the cameras was a requirement in Switzerland.

I'm not sure if the requirement for rear view cameras applies only for locomotives operating above certain speeds.
