I too, used to ride that line often to LA. I always enjoyed the ride through the subway because of all the different color lights along the rails.
I'd get off the car and walk to the other line, (can't recall it's location, downtown) and catch the San Pedro car to go visit my mom.
I recognized the old Alex movie theatre in Glendale.
