I do know a bit about what's going on. The entire line between S Tacoma and Nisqually (what has the NP Prairie Line and American Lake line) has been rebuilt from the dirt up. This includes sections of double track. The Lakewood sub starts at TR Junction in Tacoma and ends at Nisqually, some 18 miles I believe. It includes the aforementioned NP lines, a portion of the Milwaukee Mainline and two sections of entirely new track built by Sound Transit (which owns the entire line now - dispatched by BNSF).
